LATROBE, PA – La Roche Lacrosse (2-11) dropped their season-finale to St. Vincent College (5-8) 19-9 on Monday.
The Bearcats got on the board first but Crawford Healey buried a pass from Dustin Reykdal to tie it at 1-1 at the 8:29 mark of the first quarter.
St. Vincent answered with three straight goals before Jon Monahan, Bryce Wells, and Mike DiMarco struck tallies to even it up at 4-4. However, the Bearcats scored seven consecutive goals and hung on for the victory.
Healey and Sean Clark each scored 2 goals and Monahan and Jean Thouin registered a goal and assist apiece. Wells, DiMarco, and Dom Deltando notched one goal each and Reykdal added an assist.
Reykdal led the Redhawks with 7 ground balls and won 5 of 11 faceoffs. DiMarco went 3 for 5 in the faceoff circle and Monahan picked up 5 ground balls. Clark and James McKee registered 4 ground balls, and McKee forced 2 turnovers. Thouin, Reykdal, and DiMarco all forced a turnover.
La Roche had their best performance of the season on man-up situations going 3 for 5 on the day. They attempted 40 shots and picked up 41 ground balls, but only converted 13 of 26 clears and turned the ball over 34 times.
