Volleyball Falls To Mounties On The Road

CRESSON, Pa. - For the second straight match, La Roche volleyball battled with the top ranked team in the AMCC standings, but this time the contest was not as fruitful, with the Redhawks falling, 3-0.

Set one saw Mt. Aloysius build an early, 10-5 lead, but La Roche would trim the deficit down a bit, and cut the score to 17-14 by the midway point.

It was the closest the Redhawks would get, as the Mounties sealed the set in the late stages with a 6-1 run to win 25-17.

Set two was close all the way until the 25th point score, as neither team led by more than three at that point and the score sat 13-12 in favor of Mount.

The tides turned at that point, as the Mounties took 12 of the final 15 points to win 25-15 and move ahead, 2-0.

After a quick, 4-2 jolt, to open the third set by La Roche, the wheels would come undone, as Mount took 17 of the next 22 points, building a 19-9 lead and ultimately closed the match with a 25-16 win.

For the Redhawks, Kalli Grine again led the offense with 10 kills, while Estelle Winck provided 12 assists in the contest to lead the team.

On the defensive side, Kaci DePalma was the only one to hit double figures in digs with 17.

La Roche has eight days to prepare for its next contest, a home match against Penn State Altoona on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
