Redhawks Fall At Home To Salem (WV)

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche volleyball welcomed Salem (WV) for a non-conference match on Saturday, but in the end, it was the Tigers coming out on top, 3-0.

Set one saw La Roche pull slightly ahead early, 7-5, but the score quickly flipped in favor of Salem, 13-8.

The Redhawks would rally, scoring seven of the next nine points to the the set at 15-15, but the Tigers would go back ahead, 19-16.

La Roche trimmed the deficit to one at 19-18, but the teams traded points down the stretch as Salem went ahead, 1-0, winning 25-23.

Set two was all Tigers, jumping in front of the Redhawks, 13-4, before building it up to 20-7.

La Roche battled back within nine, but Salem took a 2-0 match lead with a 25-15 set victory.

In the final set, the Redhawks had things working through the midway point, holding a 15-11 edge.

Unfortunately, an 8-0 run by the tigers flipped the match to make it 19-15 and despite cutting the deficit to 19-18, the La Roche rally fell short, falling 25-20.

For the Redhawks, Kalli Grine again led the offense with 14 kills and swung a solid .278 on the day. Estelle Winck provided 28 assists in the contest to lead all setters.

On the defensive side, Kaci DePalma led the match with 24 digs, while Mackenzie Myers was the lone other in double-figures with 11.

La Roche has a week off before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 as they travel to Hilbert for the second time in 10 days, this time for the AMCC opener. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
