NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - Tuesday morning, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released the 2021 women's volleyball pre-season coaches' poll. The Redhawks came in at the fifth spot in the pre-season rankings on this years list. Penn State Behrend, the 2019 AMCC tournament and regular season champs, were predicted to finish first in the conference.
La Roche volleyball has made the playoffs each of the last six seasons (2014 to 2019). Led by head coach Nicole Bajuszik, who enters her ninth season at the helm of LRU volleyball, the Redhawks look to continue that streak in 2021. LRUVB has made it to at least the semi-final round in five of the last six seasons. During that span, the red and white have gone 34-21 in regular season conference play. After the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Redhawks are ready now more than ever to return to the courts this Fall.
Senior outside hitter Bethany Nulph (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) was listed as a player to watch in the poll. Nulph, who will be entering her second season as a team captain, has compiled 185 kills, 40 service aces, 158 digs and 22 blocks in 39 matches so far in her career. The Saxonburg native missed a majority of the 2019 season due to injury. When asked about Nulph's comeback to volleyball, coach Bajuszik said "Her return to the court has been fierce and dominating. She has taken her determination to an entirely new level of competitiveness and court awareness."
