PITTSBURGH, Pa. - For the first time in program history, La Roche men's soccer will be playing for an AMCC Championship, as the #2 Redhawks took down #3 Alfred State, 1-0, in a double overtime thriller.
The match was a defensive battle as both teams limited quality opportunities over the first 100 minutes of play.
The lone goal scored came 3:42 into the second overtime, when Abdul Basit-Suleman capitalized on a rebound, off an initial save that came off the foot of Aiden Mukanos-Kramer, lifting La Roche to the victory.
In goal, Maddox Anderson earned his seventh clean sheet of the year, making three saves in the match.
La Roche finished the game with an 11-5 shot margin and a shot on goal edge of 8-3, with eight different players putting a shot on target.
The dream season continues and with #4 Mt. Aloysius upsetting #1 Penn State Behrend, the Redhawks will host the AMCC Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 8. Time is to be determined.
