Redhawks Sweep AMCC Basketball Weekly Awards

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - For the second time in three weeks, La Roche men's and women's basketball swept the AMCC weekly awards, as this time, J'La Kizart and Major Rainey were the honorees.

J'LA KIZART

Kizart had an solid all-around week for the Redhawks who went 2-0 to improve to 11-0 in AMCC play.

In La Roche's victory over Carlow on Wednesday, Kizart finished with a loaded stat line of seven points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocks.

She followed that performance in Saturday's win over Pitt-Bradford, helping lead the team to a program record, 119 points, doing so with the first triple-double by a Redhawk since December 2012 and the first in the AMCC since January 2023.

Kizart completed the triple-double without utilizing the rebounding category, as she scored 21 points with 10 assists, 10 steals and four rebounds.

For the week, Kizart finished averaging 14 points, 7.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 7.0 steals and 1.5 blocks, while shooting 66.7% from the floor.

MAJOR RAINEY

Rainey had a standout week for the Redhawks, as the sophomore played a tremendous role in the Redhawks' 2-0 week to improve their AMCC win streak to seven straight.

In Wednesday's 103-85 victory over Carlow, Rainey contributed 10 points, five rebounds and a block in just 23 minutes. He followed that performance in Saturday's thrilling, 95-92 win over Pitt-Bradford with his fourth double-double in the last five games, scoring 28 points on 10-for-14 shooting, to go alongside 13 rebounds, a steal and three blocks.

For the week, Rainey averaged 19 points, 9.0 rebounds, had four total blocks, shot 66.7% from the field (14-for-21) and 90% from the foul line (9-for-10).
