Redhawks Drop First Home Game Of 2026 To Spartans

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche concluded non-conference play on Wednesday night, falling to visiting Case Western Reserve, 97-78.

The first three minutes belonged to the Spartans, opening a commanding 14-2 lead and continued to build upon that lead, going past the midway point of the first hald, leading, 27-11.

With 2:07 to go in the half, the Redhawks were finally able to cut the deficit to single digits, but Case Western still held a 48-40 lead at the half.

Out of the break, La Roche would use the first two minutes to trim the edge down to six, but the deficit would be back into double figures with 16:25 remaining.

The closest the Redhawks came over the remainder of the matchup would be nine points as the Spartans came through with the victory.

La Roche shot 31-for-69 (49.2%) from the floor, 8-for-25 from deep (32%) and 8-for-11 from the foul line (72.7%).

Case Western finished shooting 31-for-68 from the field (45.6%), 17-for-39 from three (43.6%) and 18-for-21 from the foul line (85.7%).

Four players would score in double figures for the Redhawks, led by Bryce Epps, shooting 11-for-15 from the floor for 26 points to go alongside nine rebounds.

Cooper Rankin followed with 18 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Brandon Bell had 13 points and Logan Golle chipped in with 10.

The rest of the season is all AMCC play for La Roche and play host to Hilbert on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m.
