Volleyball Tabbed Sixth In AMCC Preseason Poll

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – La Roche volleyball, fresh off a 2022 season that saw a record of 12-15 overall and 3-4 in AMCC play with an AMCC Tournament appearance, have been selected to finish sixth in the 2023 AMCC Volleyball Preseason Poll announced on Tuesday.

The Redhawks look to improve upon last season and will do so with a strong core returning, including 2022 Second Team All-AMCC selection, senior Mackenzie Kirken and 2022 Third Team All-AMCC selection, sophomore Quinn Hughes, both of whom were named to the preseason players to watch list.

Leading the way in the poll is Penn State Behrend, followed by defending AMCC Champion Alfred State in second.

Rounding out the top five are Mt. Aloysius and Pitt-Bradford who are tied for third and Penn State Altoona in the fifth spot.

Following sixth place La Roche and rounding out the poll in spots seven through 10 are Carlow, Wells, Pitt-Greensburg and Hilbert.

The regular season begins for the Redhawks on Friday, Sept. 1 with a pair of matched in the Lycoming University Tip-Off Tournament.

The AMCC Tournament will feature the top six teams in the standings, with the first round match-ups of #3 vs #6 and #4 vs #5 on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at campus sites, then the semifinals and finals will be hosted by the regular season champion on Saturday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 12.
