COLUMBUS, Oh. - The La Roche women's volleyball team played their first of three games this weekend tonight at the Capital University Tournament against the hosting Cursaders. The Redhawks were defeated tonight by Capital University in three sets to fall to 4-7 on the season. After winning their first three games of September at home, the Redhawks have dropped four matches in a row, all on the road.
La Roche started off hot, leading by as many as 6 points to start the match. But the Crusaders quickly changed the momentum and went on 14-5 run to win the first set.
The second set was a similar story. La Roche was tied with Capital 17-17, and then the Crusaders went on an 8-2 run to close it out.
In the third set, the Redhawks led by 22-19 before the Crusaders went on 6-1 run to win the match. Five of Capital's last six points came off La Roche errors.

LEADING THE ATTACK: Junior middle hitter Ingrid Spear led La Roche with 9 kills on the night, her second most recorded in a game this season (10 kills on 9/6 vs Clarks Summit). This season, Spear has recorded 65 kills while averaging 1.63 kills/set, tied for the team lead in both categories. Spear has also proven vital on the defensive side. She recorded three blocks on the evening, tied for first on the team. This season, she has recorded 31 blocks, 18 more than the next Redhawk.
SET EM' UP: Senior setter Bailey McDonald recorded 26 of the Redhawks 34 assists tonight. It's the second time this season McDonald has gone for 26 assists in a single-game, tying her career-high. It's also the third time this season she has recorded 20 or more assists. In 2018, McDonald only recorded 20 assists once.
NEXT UP: La Roche plays their second and third games of the tournament tomorrow against Denison at noon and Oberlin at 2 p.m.
