ALFRED, N.Y. - La Roche women's soccer traveled to Alfred State on Saturday looking to improve to 3-0 in AMCC play, but it was the Pioneers who came out on top, defeating the Redhawks, 1-0.

It was a battle that would be mostly controlled by the hosts, but the La Roche defense and goaltkeeping earned its stripes in a losing effort, limiting Alfred State to just the lone goal despite a bevy of chances.

The only goal of the game came in the late stages of the first half, when the Pioneers scored at 40:10.

Shot totals heavily favored Alfred State at 22-4 and 10-2 in shots on goal.

The Redhawks will look to rebound when they return home next Saturday, Oct. 11 when they play host to Hilbert at 1 p.m.
