Women's Soccer Slides Past Lions With Pair Of Late Goals

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer battled Penn State New Kensington on Wednesday in the second of a three-game home stand, ending the night with a 3-1 victory.

The Lions were the first to hit the scoreboard, netting the game's opening point at 6:03 to take the early lead.

La Roche would respond at 24:44 of the first half, off an unassisted goal by Nuria Zulueta Seguro.

The score would stay put throughout the remainder of the half and through the majority of the second half, despite the Redhawks dominating much of the possession and attempts, with all being thwarted.

It was the final five minutes where La Roche brought home the victory, scoring two goals in 29 seconds.

Kiki Nemcek scored the game-winning goal at 85:28 of a redirect from a pass by Maddalena Long, then Angelina McGrath scored her first off an assist by Danielle Dominick.

La Roche dominated the shot totals, 26-2 and in shots on goal, 14-1, led by Angelina McGrath's 14 total shots and five on goal.

The Redhawks return to action on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. when they host Garrett College (Md.).
