PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche women's lacrosse started hot on Friday against Pitt-Bradford, but were unable to hold on, falling to the Panthers, 7-4, to open conference play.
Pitt-Bradford struck first to take a 1-0 lead, but La Roche countered with four goals in 4:20 to take the three-goal edge.
A trio of free position goals opened the scoring, as Nicole Schroeder, Kayla Mull and Jaina Ilko found the back of the net, then the fourth was scored by Kiki Nemcek, off an assist by Ilko.
Through one quarter, the score stayed 4-1 in favor of the Redhawks, but it would be the end of the scoring for the red and white.
The Panthers would go on to score a pair of goals in each of the final three quarters, shutting down the La Roche offense and handing the Redhawks the defeat.
La Roche will look to get back on track, when they face Wilson, at home, on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
