PITTSBURGH, pa -- La Roche College Softball (15-12, 7-7) swept conference rival Hilbert College 7-5, 12-6 at Redhawks Field. The Lady Redhawks scored three runs in the first and a run each in the second through fifth innings to beat the visiting Hawks 7-5 in Game 1. Starting pitcher Jessica Cullum pitched seven strong innings allowing five runs on eleven hits while striking out five. First baseman Kayla Strittmatter went 2 for 4 and catcher Ashley Balzer had two RBIs. Left fielder Cara Giannandrea and center fielder Sydnie Martin had scored two runs a piece in the win. The Lady Redhawks started Game 2 where they lead off in the first game scoring two runs each in the first, second, fourth, and fifth innings, and four runs in the third. Starting pitcher Kara Jo Egelsky allowed six runs on nine hits in seven innings. Catcher Synie Martin went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored and shortstop Jodi Walsh went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs scored once. The Lady Redhawks will host Penn State Altoona on Tuesday, April 27 at 3:00PM.
