Simms attended Westmoreland County Community College where he earned All-Academic status for both cross country and men's basketball.

Simms is a native of Perth, Australia where he attended St. Norbert College, earning Team MVP for basketball

Simms is the son of Wendy and Shane Simms. He has one sibling, Ellah.

Simms is pursuing a degree in management.
