PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's soccer continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, defeating Hilbert, 6-0, improving to 3-0-1 in AMCC play.
It's the first time since 2009 the Redhawks have gone four games to open AMCC play without a loss.
After a feeling out process, the Redhawks scored the game's opening goal at 28:10 when Malvin Madzimbamuto found Jayden Fezatte.
Just 1:25 later, La Roche moved ahead 2-0 on an own goal, as Madzimbamuto put it in off a Hilbert defender.
The Redhawks lead grew to 3-0 before the half, when Madzimbamuto would find the back of the net for his own goal, off an assist by Angelo Porco.
In the final 45 minutes, La Roche added its fourth goal of the day, when Porco was set up by Landon Rocke at 66:04.
The fifth goal came at 79:36 when Aiden Burkhart scored his first collegiate goal on a penalty kick and scoring closed at 88:04, when Abdul Basit-Suleman made it the final of 6-0.
The Redhawks ended the day with a lead in shots at 26-5 and in shots on goal, 15-1.
La Roche now begins a two-game road trip on Tuesday, Oct. 14 when they travel to Pitt-Greensburg for a 4 p.m. kick.
