Men's Soccer Matches Single Game Program Record In 9-1 Win Over Penn State Beaver
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche men's soccer matched history on Tuesday afternoon, tying the program record for goals in a single game, defeating Penn State Beaver, 9-1.
 
The nine goals scored by the Redhawks matches the program best mark, set on Oct. 27, 2004 against Mt. Aloysius. Exactly one year later, La Roche would score nine again against Mt. Aloysius on Oct. 27, 2005.
 
Malvin Madzimbamuto was a force on the offense end, netting a first-half hat trick with goals at 10:37, 23:59 and 35:49, becoming the first player since Kyle Harriett on Sept. 6, 2019 to score three in a game for the Redhawks.
 
Seven total goals crossed in the opening 45 minutes, with Jack Sadler adding a pair of his own, as well as Niko Manos and Angelo Porco, as La Roche led 7-1 at the half.
 
Arvey Culver would net his first collegiate goal to open the second half scoring, then Sadick Ibrahim followed with his first college goal.
 
The Redhawks dominated the shot totals, 31-3 in total shots and 17-3 in shots on goal.
 
Madzimbamuto ended with his hat trick and an assist, matching Mwamba Lungu for the team high in shots with four.
 
Hayden Craycraft earned his first win as a college goalkeeper, stopping one of two shots he faced in one half of play, while Landon Hankey stopped the lone shot he faced in the second half.
 
La Roche returns to action on Friday, Sept. 5 when the host Alma at 6 p.m.
