PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche men's soccer opened the season on Saturday afternoon, falling in a hard-fought battle against Washington & Jefferson, 1-0.

The Redhawks pressured the Presidents in the first half to the tune of nine shots with five on goal, but couldn't slip one past the W&J keeper, as the score stayed scoreless at the half.

In the second half, the Presidents would score the lone goal of the game at 52:54, one that would hold the remainder of the contest.

La Roche continued to have offensive pressure in the second, but out of the eight shots could only place two on the cage.

The Redhawks outshot W&J, 17-6 and in shots on goal, 7-4. Malvin Madzimbamuto led the charge with eight shots, three of which were halted.

La Roche is back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 2, when they welcome Penn State Beaver for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
