The La Roche Women's Soccer team just returned from an 11-day voyage to Spain and Italy where they played in three exhibition games and got to see incredible sites in Barcelona, Rome, Florence, and Venice. This is the fifth time that Coach Lozano has accompanied his soccer team to Europe since he took over the program in the late 90s.
The women's soccer team spent the first 3 days in Barcelona where they toured the city and visited sites including the Sagrada Familia, the Olympic Village, Guell Park, the Plaza Espana, and Camp Nou Stadium (FC Barcelona). They then departed to Rome to see the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, and the Vatican, before stopping in Florence for a walking tour of San Lorenzo Square, the Ponte Vecchio, and the Piazza del Duomo. The team made stops in Venice and Bellagio, Italy before returning home to the United States.
Senior captain Kat Golebie described it as an experience of a lifetime. "I thought the trip was amazing! Traveling with my team was one of the best experiences I've ever had and the memories that I have from this trip will never be forgotten."
The trip was incredibly special for Golebie who got to see where her family emigrated from. "I loved seeing Barcelona, Rome, Florence, and Venice but my favorite part of the trip was the day we visited the little town of Lucca. Lucca is where my family came from so it was nice to see exactly where my family lived. Overall I had a great time and can't wait to go back."
