Redhawks Tie School Record for AMCC Conference Wins, Aim to Break Record on Saturday at D'Youville

GREENSBURG, PA -- The La Roche women's basketball team broke away in the fourth quarter to beat Pitt-Greensburg 76-59 in an AMCC Conference battle on Wednesday night. The victory ties a school record for most conference wins in a season (17) and the Redhawks will look to go perfect when they travel to D'Youville on Saturday.

TiChina Mitchell and Danasha Harris are quickly approaching 1000 points for their careers. Mitchell scored 16 points and sits just seven shy, while Harris had 19 for 980 in her career. Mitchell and Harris would join teammates Sabrina McLin and Mackenzie O'Donnell as 1000 point scorers. 

Pitt-Greensburg hung around for the first three quarters but La Roche pulled away in the fourth. At times during the first half, it looked like the Redhawks were about to create distance. La Roche held a seven point lead in the first quarter and entered the half on an 8-3 run for a 39-33 intermission lead. 

The Bobcats cut the lead to three in the third quarter and trailed by four with 8:24 left in regulation. La Roche answered with an 18-1 run to run away with the game. The Redhawks allowed just three field goal attempts and forced five turnovers over the course of the run. Five different Redhawks contributed points including two buckets each by Harris and Mitchell.

Harris was incredible and registered the unconventional 19 points and 10 steals double-double. McLin had 16 points, 6 steals and 4 assists while Mitchell added 16 points. Darrian Johnson had a game-high 5 assists.

Pitt-Greensburg hung around because of their advantage on the boards. However, the game was won in the the open court where La Roche forced thirty-one turnovers. The Redhawks also converted 34 of 70 field goals while Pitt-Greensburg attempted forty-five in total.

Saturday's game at D'Youville is a 2pm tip.
