GREENSBURG, PA -- La Roche softball's playoff chances took a big hit after they dropped a double header to Pitt Greensburg on Tuesday. The Redhawks must win a majority of their remaining conference games to get into the AMCC Tournament.
La Roche dropped game one 9-4. The Bobcats got on the board first with three runs in the third before the Redhawks took the lead in the fourth.
Hayley Lashinsky singled up the middle to score Kara Sainato. Two batters later Kelsey Plato hit a bloop single into right to cut the deficit to just one. Senior Josie Buckley came through with a 2-run double to right centerfield and a 4-3 lead.
Pitt-Greensburg used an RBI triple to take a one run lead in the bottom of the fourth. They added an RBI double and a 3-run homer in the sixth for a five run win.
The Redhawks climbed out to a commanding 7-0 lead in game two.
La Roche loaded the bases in the top of the first and Plato got the first runs singling through the left side. Buckley followed with a bases loaded RBI single for a 2-0 lead.
The Redhawks again loaded the bases in the second. Sainato legged out an infield single and Lashinsky followed with an RBI groundout and a 4-0 lead. Leonard put La Roche up six with an RBI double and Lashinsky homered in the sixth.
Pitt-Greensburg strung together seven runs in the sixth inning and then walked off in the seventh.
The Redhawks will travel to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday in a must win matchup.
