PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Softball (14-18, 6-12) dropped a 9-inning thriller to Pitt-Bradford (9-26, 8-8) 6-4 before falling in Game 2, 10-2 in front of a large crowd on Saturday in AMCC Conference action.
The Lady Redhawks led Game 1, 2-1, thanks to two runs from Alex Spain, but visiting Pitt-Bradford answered with a run in the bottom of the seven to tie it. Pitt-Bradford's Erikka Rosplock opened with a triple and attempted to score on a sacrifice fly to right field. Alex Spain made a strong throw home and caught Rosplock in a rundown, but the throw from home to third base clunked off her helmet, allowing Rosplock to score. Pitt-Bradford proceeded to win in extra innings.
Deanna Tritinger threw her fifteenth complete game in sixteen starts and allowed just 3 earned runs while striking out 5 batters.
Alex Spain had an RBI single in the Lady Redhawks' Game 2 defeat. Kacey Haluska reached base twice and Lea Kronz singled and scored.
