Softball Extends Win Streak to Six Games With Sweep of Thiel
GREENVILLE, PA – La Roche Women's Softball (7-3) extended their win-streak to six games with a double-header sweep of Thiel College (3-7) 5-4, 9-5 in non-conference action on Wednesday.
The Lady Redhawks trailed in Game One 3-1 before evening the score in the top of the fifth inning. Jennifer Lentz scored on an RBI double from Alex Spain and Kaylee Zozos hit home Kimberly McLay to tie it at 3-3. Ashley Crnkovich and Lea Kronz added runs in the sixth inning to take a two run lead and Deanna Tritinger threw a scoreless seventh inning to end it.
Tritinger went all seven innings and allowed four runs on ten hits to record the win. Alex Spain and Lea Kronz reached base twice and recorded an RBI apiece. Jodi Walsh went 1 for 3 with a run in the win.
La Roche jumped out to an early 3-0 in Game Two. Kayle Zozos doubled home Kimberly McLay and Alex Spain and then scored on a wild pitch. The Lady Redhawks added three more runs in the second inning before adding insurance runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
Mareya Justice recorded the win after throwing seven solid innings where she allowed five runs on twelve hits. Kaylee Zozos went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored. Kimberley McLay scored four times Kiersten Zorditch added 2 RBI.
La Roche Women's Softball will return to campus on Saturday when they take on Pitt-Bradford. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00PM.
