PITTSBURGH, pa -- La Roche College Softball (16-19) lost both games of a double header to visiting Grove City College 10-1, 10-2. Wolverine's Game 1 starting pitcher Lauren Pennell shut down the Lady Redhawks allowing no runs on three hits while striking out two. Pennell allowed eight Lady Redhawks to reach base in her 4 1/3 innings of work. Faith Jentsch allowed one run in 2/3 of an inning of relief. La Roche starting pitcher Jessica Cullum pitched her fourteenth complete game of the season allowing ten runs (seven earned runs) on twelve hits while striking out four. The Lady Redhawks only run of Game 1 came on a one-run triple by first baseman Kayla Strittmatter in the bottom of the fifth inning. Strittmatter went 1 for 3 with an RBI and third baseman Jennifer Hawkins went 1 for 1 with a walk and a run scored. The Wolverines continued to produce offensively in Game 2 with two runs in the first three innings. Starting pitcher Kara Jo Egelsky settled down in the fourth inning to retire the side in order. Egelsky threw her thirteenth complete game of the season allowing ten runs (nine earned runs) on eleven hits while striking out six. Catcher Cara Giannandrea went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored and third baseman Jennifer Hawkins had an RBI in the loss.
