PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche freshman outside midfielder, Philip Ross, scored twice as the Redhawks (9-4-1, 3-2-1) downed Hilbert College (1-13-1, 1-5) 3-0 in a make-up game at Biles Stadium.
Ross gave La Roche a 1-0 lead when he took a Tyler Irwin pass ten feet from the goal line and blasted it past the keeper. Ross extended the lead to two with a goal in the forty-first minute and Bryan Weimerskirch put the game away when he headed in a shot from Nick Showman.
The Redhawks outshot Hilbert College 26-12 including 19-4 in the second half. Ross scored twice and Bryan Weimerskirch added his ninth goal of the season. Ross, Weimerskirch, and Tyler Irwin each took five shots and Ryan Luffey took four. Michael Brunozzi and Nick Sabol combined for the team's fourth shutout of the season.
The Redhawks will travel to Pitt-Greensburg (played at Seton Hill) on Wednesday for an important AMCC Conference game. La Roche currently sits in the fifth spot in the conference standings while the Bobcats are in sixth.
