NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Despite being outshot 17-8, the La Roche men's soccer team (6-2) beat Westminster (2-5) 3-1 to avenge a 4-0 loss from last season. The win extends the Redhawks streak to three games.
Philip Ross opened up the scoring less than two minutes into the contest when he buried a Chad Trozzi pass. Ryan Luffey extended the lead late in the half when he scored on a penalty kick and added another on a header early in the second half.
Luffey led La Roche with two goals and Ross finished with one. Trozzi registered his first assist of the season and Bryan Weimerskirch recorded three shots.
The Redhawks will open up AMCC Conference play on Thursday when they travel to Penn State Behrend. Last season, La Roche fell to the Lions 5-0 in the AMCC Conference Tournament Semifinal.
