#22 La Roche Makes It Twelve Straight With 5-4 Win Over Mt. Union

ALLIANCE, OH -- The Redhawks outlasted a tough Mount Union team 5-4 in a non conference matchup between two teams atop of their conferences.

The Purple Raiders struck first with an early sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 2nd. The Redhawks would come right back with a sacrifice fly of their own from Luis Navedo to score Jonathon Spina.

Tre Thomas got the start and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs, on 3 hits while striking out 5 Raiders. Cam Smith then relieved Thomas in the bottom of the fifth and he would go on to earn his first win of the season hurling 4 innings, while allowing no runs on 5 hits, and striking out 5.

The Redhawks would cut the lead to 1 on a Shane Roebuck single to plate Mitch Yard who doubled earlier in the inning.

The scoring then stalled at 3-2 until the 7th inning when Navedo delivered a big hit again to score Spina. After David Lemley got on base by way of a fielders choice and got to second on a wild pitch, Joe Professori would then give the Redhawks the lead with a single into left field that would plate Navedo and Lemley.

Cole Cogley would go on to allow a run in the ninth on two hits while picking up his second save of the season.

Jon Spina had a great day at the plate going 3-3 with 2 walks and scoring 2 runs as well. Navedo and Professori had 2 RBI each, while Roebuck and Yard added 2 hits a piece.

The Redhawks move to 22-6 on the season and return to the field tomorrow at home against Washington & Jefferson.
