A school-record nine Redhawks were named to the AMCC All-Conference team released today. Brian Tougher was chosen as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year while Head Coach Chase Rowe was selected as the Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. Dan Burns, Sean Lubin, and Casey Zimmerman were named Second Team All-Conference performers and Tougher, Jesse Bauer, Cole Lentz, Shane Healey, and Ryan Fennell made Third Team All-Conference.
Tougher enjoyed a fantastic freshman season and finished the regular season as the team leader in runs, hits, doubles, RBI, and total bases and ranked in the AMCC's top 10 in batting average, on base percentage, hits, and RBI.
Burns hit .351 in his first season with the Redhawks and played great defense at first base. Lubin was the anchor of La Roche's infield and led the AMCC in assists while hitting .338 and stealing a team-high 12 bases and Casey Zimmerman hit .354 and ranked third in the AMCC in triples.
Bauer and Lentz provided excellent pitching all season. Both ranked amongst the AMCC's best in ERA, opposing batting average, innings pitched, strikeouts, and Bauer led the AMCC in saves. Healey led La Roche with a .421 batting average and Fennell finished the regular season on a tear. Both Healey and Fennell received AMCC Player of the Week honors.
Rowe guided La Roche to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the AMCC Championship and their second AMCC Regular Season Title. The Redhawks also beat two top 15 opponents including #1 and defending National Champion Marietta College.
